Oh, HI! Fancy seeing you here... Like there's anybody there...
I seriously want to learn how to post something thought provoking enough to make people leave comments... but until then.. you get this:
I am busy as hell at work... My entire dynamic has changed. For the better really, but there are things I am unable to make room for in my day and it's just so much different than before that the new reality is this: I have time for Facebook throughout the day, but really just to keep up with other people not so much to comment. I found myself about to comment the other day and all that happened was that I was about to send a paragraph into the void...and I told myself when the Facebook posts get to be about a paragraph, that's when I should really choose to blog... fine.. I don't really care about making sure I get on and comment on Facebook these days... It mostly just turns into more like a tweet... small short concise post with a pic attached. Usually it's an IG with a sentence that I auto post to FB and Twitter... GAWD that just sounds boring writing that...
The catch up game will take a while so I don't know which is better... one long giant post or a few over the next few days?? I'm going to try the latter and see what happens... again, not like anyone reads this god forsaken thing...
I have decided to change the name of the blog if you have noticed...if not, no matter.
When I got our new phones in Spring I got an unbelievable deal that included 2 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's... I seriously didn't even know what I would do with these things, but they quite literally GAVE them to me...so I thought, hey... party, bonus. I took them home and Choni was reticent about them at first... 6 months later he wouldn't know what do without it! I bought cases on Amazon that came with bluetooth keyboards. Great investment, might I add! The charging chord to the keyboards fits the galaxy, so I basically always have the charger for it... doesn't sound important to some I bet, but it's SO important when you're lugging stuff for people.
When these things fell in our laps, I had been contemplating a laptop purchase...but wasn't sure...then I read an article about 10 Top Dying Techs. On that list were laptops. Simply stating that with desktop PCs doing incredible things that you pretty much would want to NOT do on a subway and tablets coming with expandable memory and keyboards...why?!? So I thought, yeah why?!? My mission then became to use the SHIT out of my tablet...and I do. I game on it, I'm addicted to Hey Day.. shut up. I have a few little life regenerating games to fill in the 1 minutes holes of down time I have throughout the day and that's about it... Thing 2 still requires I sit with her while she plays, but she doesn't want me to play with her because she doesn't want me touching her stuff...so I will sit there and video her playing and play a game and show her video and pictures of her set ups... it's all about presentation for her right now.. "See what I did?!?" Yep, that's her in a nutshell...
My big idea is to use the tablet for those few minutes between when I brush my teeth at night and then choni goes to brush his teeth and I sit there waiting for him to be done...in those moments I can do one of two things: 1) sum up my moments and thoughts of the day Doogie Howser style on my tablet or 2) map out something a little more interesting to say when I have more time...Either way, that's my new personal goal...writing with pen and paper still hurts even with the wrist support and typing this now in my Icelandic office (don't get me wrong if it's hot in here my nose bleeds end of story), I have finger-less gloves on and wrist supports but I'm covered...I'm A-OK.
I got really busy over the summer...in my head... I was over thinking the idea behind the blog, whether anybody cares and whether it's worth it, and whether I have time and my new tasks at work...my tasks at home... making sure I'm "present" all the time... getting called out about being on my phone when I was like "I'm only on MY phone... when YOU are on YOURS..." some eye opening developments in my relationships with people that are not Choni...
Summer went by slow... No softball I think did that. I had a break to myself that I spent sick...again...and I got this WEIRD skin thing that itched like a spider bite and scarred like one too. I think it was a brown recluse bite because those tend to turn into cellulitis if not caught ASAP. It's fine now. My TMJ something something disorder is in cahoots with my neck and shoulder tension and makes my teeth hurt. I had my extensive dental work done and hopefully that's the end of that...I don't think it is. I'm lucky to have any teeth with my family history. Allergies are still in full swing... All of that compacted toghether equals me being in some form of pain everyday at some point in the day.. If I am busy with enough things I don't notice so that's nice. My plantar fasciitis is somewhat more under control than in the two years I've had it so that's good... $40 insoles later and a new pair of shoes and some exercises later... But it's better than what it was at the beginning...it's not completely gone away and I'm supposed to go in for a cortisone shot the foot to calm down the muscle next month.. Can you guess how exciting I find that? Can you?!?
I joined GoodReads and have been reading up a storm thanks to 1 minute intervals in the day and lunches and waiting for things... I put forth a challenge for myself.. I am almost done :)
I have been using the HELL out of Coconut Oil for all of it's benefits, I am very into at home remedy mostly because I already have all that stuff at home most of the time. Because of the DRY ASS winters, I have switched to a Cleansing Conditioner because I am prone to dry scalp in winter more so than any other time of year. Last year was HELL on my hair because I cut my hair OFF and as much as I loved the cut I jacked up my pH balance on my head and then even with a pseudo winter we had...I itched...and itched...and itched. No amount of OTC head stuffs worked. So I suffered. Then it got warmer and it stopped. Now it's cooler and it's starting...not as badly as last year, but it was this time of year I cut my hair OFF...and it's growing back at lightning speed. This time next year I'll be like "What short hair?" I think I'll stop there because this is just rambling now and who cares?
I'll start the smaller blogs with more to say in the next few days. Mister is working an off season job but I'll get into that later!

Single Parent Summer...Hold the Softball...
Full swing into single parent summer, and not one blog about it...
And why? No more softball...Thing 1 has moved on from that phase in her life and I know why...
My darling older child hit that realization that she is older and the softball kids are older and they actually want to win games and work harder and practice longer.
Thing 1 doesn't... She is the deer-like prancer around the bases, swatting at the ball with the bat like it's a fly in her way. All the while, having the most fun of her life. Her Daddy and I explained to her that if she did softball again this year, it would be much more competitive and she will more than likely feel a little pressure from her team mates to PLAY. As always, she respectfully declined the invitation to take part in sports this summer and I have to say, I applaud her for that. It took fourth dimensional thinking to get that decision. Also, she is stating quite matter of factly that her school will let her sign up for orchestra next year and she wants to try that. Of course, we are all over that! I come from a musical family (I am only musical when I try my ASS off really hard to learn part of ONE song because I broke my hand really bad and can't do a lot of chords with my pinky and ring finger not functioning on my left hand... really I can barely type some days) And then there's the whole "It's part of school" and we don't have to cart her around anywhere which is a logistical impossibility and I hate that but oh well right?
That all being said, no softball... No softball means no meals on the go, no rushing, no hurrying like a made person, no forgetting the diaper bag and a change of clothes and carrying a soaking baby around a park with me and no battling the baby with the "No, No NO! Don't eat that, put that down, don't touch that, don't run away from me, don't take that kids cookie, chips, candy, drink..." I feel like I get a break this summer. Which is perfect. Because I can sit back and put a smidge more effort in my job because it needs it right now. I had a very demanding May (hence the no posting) and I am reaping all the benefit rest assured.
Choners might be looking into something steadier for employment, we'll see... I think Thing 2 is still too little but it's cool, we'll see what happens. Roll with the punches can be the best medicine for a crazy life.
After two full months of Single Parenting, June is a break. There are only 8 games in June and they're on weekends... so we're good... I get my Choni-baloney on the weekdays when I need him most, what with my three hours I get with the kids once we're home and step foot in the house... My cousin came to live by us recently and she is from Pop's side. Pop's side is small and spread out at that, so they don't get much lovin. I was STOKED when she moved here, she's my "Pop's Family Doppleganger"... everyone has theirs in their families, she's MINE :) So Thing 1 got to spend some time with her while school is out YAY! Then, next week, summer program starts. It's a cool freebie offered through the freebie after school program... Part of the day is free and then you pay a small fee for the rest of the day, so Thing 1 is just going for the first part. But they're still going to be doing some REALLY cool stuffs in that time, so it's ALL good...
Whether she realizes it or NOT, Thing 1 doesn't really want to stay at the house with Daddy and baby all day every day all summer long. Usually she goes to her Noni's house when she has days off in the week, but that's not all the time and I HAVE to get her after work for that to work out, so she doesn't get the lion's share of time with her on those days anyways... It's a good summer this summer, I'm excited... We had a heat wave already and right now right now, we are having some good weather... 70's 80's in June, we're HAPPY CAMPERS!!
I just made my vacation plans for the summer, not exactly vacation by usual standards, but lets call them "days off"... gonna see what we can do in that time off :) So, basically just a check in... so long!!!
...196 days 13 hours and 30 minutes until Christmas... but how's counting???

Lather, Rinse, Repeat...
Single Parent Summer back in full swing...(pun intended)...
Daddy's back at the Diamond this year and it couldn't have been a less underwhelming transition if we had planned it that way. No Softball for Thing 1 this year, which I am CERTAIN is part of the reason. Thing 2 is a little more patient these days, letting us cook meals without FREAKING OUT completely that we are not putting all attention on her. Even if it's just to sit with her on the couch while she does, whatever it is she wants to do...
My Choni-less routine is back in full swing as well... feed the childrens, do some domestic tasks that I can fit in so I feel like I'm actually participating in home life, put Thing 2 to bed early (as her schedule as somehow changed itself while life was going on) then Thing 1 goes to bed and boom... Mom has an hour to herself. Usually this hour is used by dishes or wrapping up the domestic task of my choice for that night. If it's Friday, it's manicure night and I kill my time of blowing on my nails by reading a few pages of whatever book I am into...rinse. Repeat.
Still able to fit in reading and crochet into my lunches. It's been a HOT ASS winter/spring and I have NOT been going on my walks like I should...Which is ok... it affords me the time for my crafty crafts that I tote along with me..I finished my baby room cross stitch that I got WAY post babies... as if there's an expiration when you can celebrate the birth of your children... There isn't by the way... Keeping a look out on a new cross stitch/embroidery project to start... I want to make a set of washclothes for our kitchen... yay...
It's so warm, I have already "spring cleaned" the kids' room. There are winter clothes galore that still fit the wee one so I did my Spring Time Frugal Mom Task: cut off all the sleeves from the shirts and legs from the pants... now there are shorts and short sleeved shirts aplenty... and very little cost to me... YAY!
I have been using my new camera lens more and more... Holy Shiznits... that thing is a game changer... my pictures are amazing now. I have a small gig doing wedding pictures in September and the Mister is doing the videography... Should prove to be a nice little padding for the bank account ... This year I am wiping off my budget list...I get a full mulligan... Here's why:
We bought a car.
It's awesome.. it's brand new...I got a great deal...and I traded in our 8 year old mini van... Yes, I still have a wee one... No I won't really miss having the van. Because we are frugal, we are realistic, and we are not assholes... we don't travel much... Not that I really miss it all that much. We did NOT in fact get to have our weekend anniversary getaway because I got violently ill right before our dinner reservations...so i know it wasn't the food. I have my money on someone at work got me sick/mixed with the anxiety of the weekend and having thing 2 at Ma's when I wasn't sure how that was going to fare with ANYONE...it went GREAT and now we have more confidence that maybe we can start small trips and travel with the wee one. But I spent my anniversary weekend in bed...and NOT in the fun awesome way... in the flannel-nightgown-reruns-of-Roseanne-sleeping-all-day-and-night-eating-dry-toast kind of way... Anyhoo... Choners ran out of his money early this year... I don't know why... but he did... and it's not because he spent it on anything other than gas food and a minor car repair when he felt he had the money.. food costs go up, gas goes up, things increase and his pay stays the same. Same deal with me, but a little different because of how he gets paid and gets the off-season unemployment. He will have gone two months without any money coming in as of the end of April... The only saving grace is that he is able to sell off some comic art, but then he'll be paying me back... not literally, but I know him. He'll pick up the tab for something later remembering that I had to come in where he left off until he got paid. But that's why I save... so I can come in behind him and SWIPE SWIPE everyone's happy... Also, we got a new car! He was driving the van and since he drives 50 miles per work day, that wasn't really working out well staring down the season's throat and watching the gas prices go up... So he gets the old car, I get the new car and while I'm over here driving the new car, commuting in it...he's driving the old car a third of the miles I would in a year... Again, everyone's happy! And he is SO ecstatic to have that car back...
You see, I don't know if I mentioned, he used to drive the Civic. We had two cars when Thing 1 was born, an '02 Civic and his '98 Aspire.. as in, it Aspired to be a real car... The Aspire DIED (I know, SHOCKING) and we had to make a decision...and because we were living my mother and Step-monster at the time, i fucked up ROYALLY and listened to him when he suggested I get a family vehicle and get a minivan... knowing that if I financed the cheapest one I could find it would be a hefty down payment and a hefty car payment because we were still a young married couple, no house payment yet, not paying rent "living with my parents"... we were doomed from the start...BUT I listened, I was trying to do that at the time, I was trying to be involved... big mistake... months after that monster purchase that nearly cleaned out our savings, and just after Christmas and shopping trips full of "Oh but it's Christmas, go ahead, put it on your credit card" we were broke and out on our ass because he kicked us out for some fakakta reason. I know the reason and it's totally fakakta...
Here we are 8 years of a monster free lifestyle, but that van was still a little bit of an albatross, the final thread to be cut from that other life that is so far behind us now I can't believe that ever happened, I can't believe I ever let that happen!
I purchased the new car a week ago today... it's still so surreal...that I look in my driveway and see that metallic charcoal beauty staring back at me...at us... The Things LOVE the new car... my nephew was a little upset at the trade in concept, but he got over it...and my little sis of course loves it... it's shiny... She's in.
Our credit is apparently flawless... Hmmm, wonder how that happened! Hahaha... yes, I'm laughing... it's funny.
But with two dental appointments that came up and bit me in the ass, I still have to get glasses and the buying of the groceries, OH and the civic needed work that I was quoted on 7 months ago and yeah... considering I"m in an industry dealing daily with quotes and how you can't really count on them lasting very long, I STUPIDLY and admittedly used the 7month old quote to budget the maintenance work on the civic... and extra $300 later, we are officially OUT our anniversary money and anything we decide to do later is going to be "out of pocket" fine... Thing 1 needed new shoes after I got home from work the other day and what did I do? Went and got them, didn't think twice...didn't use a credit card... I need to keep things like that fresh in my mind so I don't feel like a failure because I will NOT by any stretch of the imagination be saving the kind of money I expected this year... but that doesn't mean I won't be saving at all... just not as much...which is fine... we have a new car! two cars that get great gas mileage instead of not... big happenings for us!
We are still planning on getting my eye surgery next year and doing our New York trip the following year...then I am hoping to maybe take and adjust my tax return if I need to.. we'll see... I talked to the CFO of our company and we had a great talk about life and stuff.... he's a good guy, the kind of person you would strive to be in life and I got some great confidence up after that meeting.
Feeling like my damn hair is taking FOREVER to grow, but it's not... but it IS!!!!
Thing 2 is STILL nuts, but it's either not as bad, or we're just managing it a lot better... or both... but still... she threw a world class wobbler yesterday that cause me to drop off her big sis way too early for school... oh well... Shit happens...
Now that I have bored whomever to tears, I'm going to go now... the computers at work were/are down and has cause a lovely break that I haven't' had in WEEKS due to a chick at work going on maternity leave that, growing huge belly not withstanding, no one planned for... mmmhhhmmm.... I started a crochet project today that needs to be done by Saturday and if I have two more lunch hours like I did today, it'll be a piece of CAKE!!! Can't wait to finish that up... lovely... so now I get to go drive my new car home... damn man... it sucks to be me... with my achey foot, my achey nervy mouth/teeth blind as a bat eyes full head of gorgeous hair...oh yeah...and my new car....
Mister is making rad ass taco recipe he came up with all by hisself... Dear Lord... I am so excited to get home!

I started a crochet project today that needs to be done by Saturday and if I have two more lunch hours like I did today, it'll be a piece of CAKE!!! Can't wait to finish that up... lovely... so now I get to go drive my new car home... damn man... it sucks to be me... with my achey foot, my achey nervy mouth/teeth blind as a bat eyes full head of gorgeous hair...oh yeah...and my new car....

...Locking Up Single Parent Summer...
I have been "off" for over a month... not gonna say sorry...just gonna say... I hate being right...
Or if you prefer another bumper sticker... I told you so, with a side of tongue sticking out and fingers in the ears...
But I digress...
Here we are, knee deep in third grade awesomeness, getting the hang of homework and awesomeness of third graders everywhere... Thing 2 wishes she was BIG... like Tom Hanks 'n shit... but alas... you are not... you are wee... you are in between 18months and 24 months in a land I like to call "They don't make clothes for you so you have to trip or be trapped". The holidays... JESUS... Already saying "The Holidays?" STFU Holidays!!!
I have NOT heard a Christmas song ANYWHERE yet...and I am enjoying that.
I actually LIKE Christmas songs...so I'm not even going to go there...
Single Parent Summer: over... done.. the book is read... closed, shelved until next year...
Gone is the paycheck that came with it and we are back on lock down.
Gone are the bustling HAWT days of frustration from sweat pouring down my burning red face, glasses falling off as I put The Things in the car for a ride to wherever, having to remember, "Let's leave before --- so we don't get stuck in the car in the heat, and lets go home AFTER dark..."
...and gone is the freedom of no homework...there is so much GROWN UP going on in the fall, winter and spring months... It'salmost overwhelming.... It's responsibility at it's finest...it's grown up. It's Mom and Dad and Kids...
...Gone are the quickie meals of Del Taco quesadillas and bean burritos and French fries.
...Gone is the excuse to get away with the aforementioned quickie meals...
And it couldn't come at a better time! It's been a particularly trying summer. There have been a lot of financial responsibilities to handle, much more than usual... the savings we saved from the tax return are GONE... the savings I have saved since the first of the year when I wrote my budget are pretty much gone too...I am saving less even cause I am RESPONSIBLE and went with the 401k...I might even just up the bitch so I can hold onto SOME of our money... BUT... I digress...
The financial setbacks we came across were due to the unexpected things that come with owning a home and having cars that are NOT new, but still, with the repairs and things needed on both, it's still less than HALF what we would have spent on car payments, insurance and registration on new vehicles... so we are still WINNING! I have a few bucks on top of last years goal...so we're good. Plus, I got to a point this year where I'm like, Fuck it. You can't take it with you. I have a savings. I was able to write checks and swipe the card when some people would be hocking furniture... so I'm not gonna complain. I'm go home and be happy...after my nervous breakdown.
Next summer, I can't wait. If The Things come along as they atleast SHOULD... it should be stellarly better than this summer... yeah, stellarly, don't look it up, it's MY word and it doesn't exist but in my head.
I am already eagerly anticipating cooking dinner for the four of us, putting daddy's in a lovely container for when he gets home from the game, rinse, repeat.
I was not able to do that this past summer. I had THAT kid...the one that takes a village to raise.. Yeah, that one. and I don't have a village... my village is too far... so we make do...so one summer, out of The Thing's lives, we cheated... and it was fun...
Next summer... no cheating... It more than likely will not be necessary and I am already looking forward to it. Meanwhile, hello FALL! I missed you! Take off your coat and stay awhile! No really, take off your damn coat cause it's effing hot outside still.
I must say it has definitely leveled off and I can't wait to put my floor fan away for the season! It's happening sooner than later. I still have a month or two before I will need to replace my furnace filter and I even had a lower SCE bill than I budgeted for according my last year's budget. Thanks for coming in under a lot of my budget, I was actually able to put a chunk of money away and still leave room for all the bills I have slated to pay with this check AND Thing 1's dental work.... SO MUCH dental work.. I feel so horrible.
My mouth is awful, my mister's mouth is AWFUL... so I had to know that our damn kids would have horribly yucky mouths... poor babes... all I can do is harp on them to brush their teeth and take them in for check ups when I'm supposed to... doesn't make it any less painful to watch... So this is basically a rant... a ramble... about how summer is over, fall is beginning with awesome weather we usually don't see until October is almost over and we scoped out a rad place that we might be able to go apple picking at before the season is over...this is very exciting to me.
We have been here 4 years, and we finally explored! I don't like to explore alone, and I don't' count Choni...so we don't' like to explore alone as it were... so we dragged Ma, my sis's and their entourages out to the middle of nowhere, a mile high...and BOOM... it was like a different state! Definitely not what people think when they think "California" but Ma's worldly beau said the sage brush was a dead giveaway... cause he's a smart dude like that and that's why we like him!
With more time at home and more time to do his extra curricular activities, I have noticed my Mister is a slightly happier Mister. I say slightly cause he was already happy and it's hard to improve on perfection :) Don't get me wrong he can be a pain in the ass sometimes...but it's one of those things where it doesn't bug me cause I would miss it in a heart beat if I didn't have it anymore...aawwww....
I think that wraps it up...

"Dirty Mouth? Clean it UP!"...
...Oh Orbit Lady.... PLEASE come through my house!!! ...And then I wake up... Cause yeah... that's NOT gonna happen. Not no way, not no how...
Guess what I did yesterday? Nothing. I cleaned the kids room with them (by with them of course I mean giving Thing 2 things to keep her busy while I cleaned with Thing 1)... I can't believe what we were able to clean. I can't believe what she let me get rid of. Yes LET ME. I know, I shouldn't let my kid have the say really. But here's the part about them being far apart. Thing 1 is at the age when she should be getting rid of baby toys...but we have the baby now...and she is old enough to play with all those toys. One day, they will be gone, but we just signed a new lease on their life. If those toys could talk I'd demand some thank yous... just sayin...
Cleaning the kid's room has become somewhat of a "mommy" job. Sometimes I sell myself on the idea that the chores are perfectly, evenly split up, but they're not. They're just not. It's never going to be perfectly even and perfect. Putting the kid's laundry away is a mommy job. But I like it. I like it because I am the one that buys them their replacement clothes...so if I buy the clothes, I should fold them and put them away so I know what's hole-y. What's shredded, ripped, stained, too small and ready to go. I like my "mommy" jobs. I try to do other things, but the only time I have to do things is the weekends, which this weekend was one where daddy worked... I played with the kiddos yesterday and cleaned and played...we watched movies, had a little friend over, sent the little friend home, and played... Mary slept, I worked on a crochet project (what's with all these breeders lately? I loved it!) and I went to bed a little later than usual cause I wanted to hug and kiss my Choni-baloney before I went to bed. And then, he did the dishes... He worked, came home at 9:30 after stopping at the store after work, put the food away and did the dishes... Yeah, that's what I married... and that's why I strive to be a better person everyday...and that's why last night I went to bed totally depressed. I am going to have start a personal journal....
I need somewhere where I can completely release the crazy inadequacies I feel as the spouse... some of it's pure bullshit. Some of it is pretty valid... Some of it is just for us.. some of it... like when I have had people tell me that from their end, they don't think Choni does enough...
Yep... people have told me that. I know what they mean is based on what they see, but you have to be in our house day to day to realize that it's really the other way around... I play with the kids when I have them... because I am constantly in a state of flux. I want to clean the house, I want to see them see me clean the house so they can say "wow, what a clean house we have." But I have some negative semi-repressed memories about having a clean house, which is also probably a serious part of me being "Clean or play? PLAY!" Because we did things as a family, but I can't remember a time my mom really PLAYED with me. I don't hold it against her or anything, she worked like a fuckin DOG to keep our house up and my dad did, too... food on the table and a clean house and a few memories here and there of Disneyland, Knott's, picnics, birthday parties. Lots of snuggly nights at home... right before bed and after dinner... very warm and snuggly... but I also remember several times when my OCD dad decided to WASH THE SCREENS instead of go to the park with us, so we made our own fun.
I know people will call bullshit on the fact that I say "well the baby is UP MY ASS" because it IS difficult to keep your mind ON TASK when a midget is pulling your pants down whilst climbing your leg... so we do what we can, but still... I feel like I should be doing a better job. Like my house should be immaculate like so many other people's houses are (or maybe they're not and I PRESUME they are)... I guess everyone juggles differently and this is how we juggle... We prioritized, and cleanliness of house has taken a bit of a back burner...sure, I Swiffer... that shit's RAD... but when I dusted my house as a chore when I was a kid, it was a rag and Pledge to the WHOLE shebang and that was all that was acceptable. My mom could tell when I tickled the house with a feather duster and what did I do the next day? Re-DID all the dusting I didn't do the day before....
I guess the point is, I don't have a clean house... my poor hubby does 95% percent more housework than I do and I play with the kids... and one day this will change... so I'm going to do my best to enjoy this while it lasts...because one day...the kids won't want a thing to do with me and I'll be cleaning out of necessity to keep my time occupied. And that's why my house is disheveled and my nails are barely kempt and I sneak in project-ing when the baby naps...oh and I am at my pre baby weight and sustaining because it's too goddamned hot to go outside and walk and my post work work-outs are on hold until Thing 2 gets old enough to NOT get into shit... I'm waiting for Fall basically... or OUR Fall, which starts in late November... I should call this time "Baby Flux"...maybe naming it will help me get out of my head about it... but see, now that I've said that and put it out there, I feel better already! Blah...word vomit...and now I am purged!!! ...and this is what happens when I have too much time to think things... because this is all bullshit...and I know that... first world problems eh? TOTALLY!!! And this is why I would be a horrible psych patient... I would do a round of word vomit...and I would be cured...teeheehee... And one day, I will be looking at a 5 year old Thing 2 and be thinking, "Remember when I didn't have time for things?"... I remember doing that with Thing 1. I think she was about 3 when I could just 100% get going on things and she wouldn't be ALL OVER ME...and as much as I sat there enjoying it, I was sad that I wasn't being called for, needed, "bugged"... It's bittersweet, that moment when you're doing something that you couldn't easily do with a small one around, and then the moment you can... it's ALMOST not as enjoyable it once was. Because that free time comes at a price...the price of kids growing up... Circle of life n shit... kids grow up, we get our "free time" back for what it's worth and we wonder where it all went... And it's all so incredibly NORMAL... and now I can move on to the next thing on my list of things to dwell on...what's for dinner??

Hi Blog! It's Me, Margaret!
I can't believe I did it to myself... I really can't...
I didn't know I was doing it, but I was... It's been almost a year since I stopped physically journaling. I thought for sure when that happened that a psych consult would surely follow.
What I am realizing is that my world did not in fact come crashing down around me.
So, I take that as a very positive sign! A sign of the strong foundation that myself and others have built to preserve...I am still standing without what I thought for sure was keeping me sane by allowing me to clearly and concisely catalogue my thoughts. I stopped because, well, you know when something you love becomes work? My journaling became work. I started having to make games with myself to get me to do it...partially because my wrists were hurting after writing and partially because I had no time. I started to keep the journal with me, but the thought of whipping it out in public and scratching away started to seem looney to me. And the act of pulling it out of my purse, grabbing a pen and writing a full sentence started to become impossible in and of itself due to bad timing (or perfectly bad time). I then told myself that I owed myself one page per day of journaling...that was a recipe for failure right there...and then when I would finally sit down, I figured I would have this built of flood gate to open and I'd get a few pages, just the facts...and I'd be done. I used to fill books in months... it took me over a year to fill the last one...
That's when I decided to turn to this blogging thing. I figured, that as a non-pro, I am not subscribing to anyone's deadlines, but my own. I didn't want to give myself deadlines, but I still had to make a game of it just to keep even MYSELF interested. Cause I guess I have a slight ADD problem I guess... maybe.. perhaps.. what was I saying???
I hate when people blog blog blog...and then they're gone...cause they were "living life"... not HATE> I guess that's a strong word... I have seen that a lot is what I mean... and I saw it so much I thought "That's not gonna be me"...wow...that's a dumb thing to say...
IT'S ME IT'S ME!! Living life! Not logging it in! I'd like to think I'm not terribly personal on here, so it's not like I'm going to minute by minute catalogue my time "off"... it's not really that interesting. Thing 1 got out of 2nd grade. 3rd grade here we come! I wanted to get her something for her bday that rocked...a big bag of books...hehehe...
Then, there's this whole (now) 17 month old thing going on... which is fine. She's her own person, not a like her sister... Which we were prepared for. But DAMN... talk about taking advantage... Daddy even got up with her a few times last week in the middle of the night cause she was just...bothered. she just needed someone...and he was there...and he cuddled...and snuggled...and half awake walked her back to bed and tucked her in all warm like... she was happy after that...
Her eye teeth are coming in at a snail's pace...especially when compared to the rest of her mouth... She LOVES to run away from you...so "training" her to walk with us will be a total adventure...
As completely different as life gets everyday, I fall more in love with where we are at everyday. Even though I still have some weird mouth/jaw/tooth/ear/throat pain going on every day in some way, shape or form (I'll be looking into that sometime soon)...
So that's ONE way of catching up. I have this little book... It's a cute little thing... it's in my desk at work...and It's full of "ideas" for the blog... it's so full, I almost need a new one.
Talk about a step in the WRONG direction... I inadvertently ended up doing something I was un able to do a year ago...jotting down ideas one day at a time... well there you have it...that's catch up sesh number one... hope I didn't make anyone fall asleep...
that would suck...but then again... I'm not the one with would be key marks on their face... so there's that...

One Month in One Day....
... because that's what I feel like...
I have no excuses for myself to not have posted ANYTHING in just over a month... We have been knee deep in life and since I am not a person who gets paid for this, I have had no good reason TO post anything either.
Thing 1's softball season is in FULL swing and we have her coach from her first season back which is good. The whole family is on board with her coaches which makes it easier to sit there and watch Thing 1...and the REST of the team because there are no favorites... getting talked at and talked to and told to run laps, to the fence and back, do calisthenics and what have you and do this extra because you messed up and blahblahblahblah...
Thing 2...TEETH... oy-to-the-vay... The first set of molars all came in at ONCE... now it's EYE TEETH!! One at a time, and they're killing us ALL... a week on and a week off and now 3 days on, 4 days off, 7 days on and vacation... that's daddy's schedule... that's awesome.... the team had a winning streak on the road and it made it such a great vibe when he went back to work last night... Practice runs LATE, games run LATE... it's ALL LATE... fine.. we signed up for it and it doesn't even last that long... one more month and that's it...that's IT!! Amazing... I just got the softball team picture... Harley said she thinks her picture gets better and better every year...
Well who am I to argue?? Of course she's right...cause she's the most beautifullest thing in the world :)
Work has kept me running ragged, on my toes and constant state of OHMYGODOHMYGOD!! Another reason for the silence... of course it always seems that when I found a moment to myself to jot anything down, I got sidetracked... such is life.
C'est la vie...
Fine fine fine... Things are good though... pretty darn sweet if you ask me.
Choni has a possible partner in crime to work with on possible short film projects which is fantastic for him. Might even get into his videography business... still waiting and seeing on that. Fine fine fine.
We had a super busy fun family filled weekend that I can't believe just happened... I'm tired from it...really...but it was super awesome :) I used a gift card from Christmas which is always a great accomplishment.. I got home from work one day last week and Choni had the whole garage cleaned out... and now everything minus the yuck is back in it and it's so clean you can walk around in there now!
I almost got internet at home, but Verizon kept that from happening.. bastards...
Probably a good thing because it's the one thing keeping me as the only person I know without a tablet. Oddly enough something my almost-8-year-old likes to point out on an almost daily basis... Hard to raise children in this technobabble world...
Really...
So many things coming up and happening I can't wait. CAN'T.WAIT!
My bestie, her woman, and my merry band of miscreants are planning an amazing trip to NY.. No city for us, I have gone enough for two lifetimes and my honey has seen and edited enough footage to last him... so we're good on that... I want to lounge on Lake George... if I can do that holding my main squeeze's hand with my kids splashing in crisp clean lake water... I'll be a happy camper!!
I have been forced to abandon the Nail Polish challenge for a short period of time. As a result of my stressball-loseriness, I have chewed my nails to nubs and am in the process of de-uglifying them. Until that has passed, no news on that front.
There is a two day trek to the Emerald City on which we stop halfway and see some kin folk, a possible stay from Kid Sister, a possible stay from my niece... but we'll see... still ALOT of summer to go. Thing 1 just got out of school and she is already ready to go back...
And since our dog was put down, she has been asking for a low maintenance pet of somekind...so there is THAT to look forward to. I am a little curious myself to see how that will play out...
Our little one has proven to be such an amazing addition to our family, she makes us laugh and smile everyday..sometimes, just sometimes, we want to pull our hair out. But that's MOSTLY to do with the damned teeth...DAMMIT!!
Not a day, NOT ONE DAY, goes by where, if we are in public, someone comments on the cuteness of the wee one...and then immediately on the big sister...
I got some answers on my foot pain and now that I know what it is and it has a name, the healing can begin... any time now... ANY TIME... It's not going to fix itself over night, there are things I need to do to ease the pain and help correct it, but I have had more good days than bad days in three months, so I can't really complain...
I need to take Thing 1 to do the dentist this summer, and after I have been there and dropped way too much money on MY mouth, I am totally not going to forget to do that with her!! damn teeth....
Allergies are rampant this year already... no sooner I read an article about how bad it's going to be I start to feel the beginnings of discomfort...I have already bought a new fresh bottle of Benadryl for Thing 1 and I to share.
I am getting a cut AND a color before I got on vacation which I couldn't be MORE excited about if I tried because I never get to do both at once between MY schedule and the hair chicks' schedule... My new rule of thumb, if I can put my hair in a rubberband, it's too long!
The way things have gone lately, I'm just glad we have cars that run and a house... and food. food is always good. unless it's tofu... I fucking hate tofu...

Two Ships In The Night...
That's us right now...
The job is going so well... even when the equipment doesn't work right, he still likes it cause he's got a good group of guys to work with this year. His "work girlfriend" isn't around as much, she's only doing her gig part time-ish and his buddy the bat boy is leaving this month... so it's new people all around!! Which is actually good. And I'm so glad it's good. Last year had me worried... that he wouldn't want to go back... I don't care about the money. Not really... It's nice... don't get me wrong. But we don't NEED it. I like to think that takes the pressure off his job. It truly makes it Sport.
My coworker has been in and out of work and where our department was 5 people when I came into it, then 4...now 3...and temporarily we are at two...barely at two... we are nose and mouth out of water with two...
I know I've said it before, but I'm not the kind of person that NEEDS all this EXTRA time to myself. First of all, I don't have ANY friends near me. They are all out of state or county at least... My little buddies are Thing 1 and Thing 2... Sometimes Kid Sister comes with me too... but mostly it's the Things... And Choni... He's my bestie fo shizzle and I miss him so much when he's gone.
I have plenty of things to keep me busy, but it's always prevalent why I am doing those things is because I have spare time because he's not there...so it's a reminder upon a reminder that I am alone... And it's only May... It's good because it makes me appreciate him even MORE than I already do...and I do... I do so much that I'm thinking of skipping Mother's Day completely this year and doing two Father's Days.
Between work at work and work at home I have been so busy I haven't done much of the "me" things that I need to do... I even forgot to brush my teeth this morning. That is unacceptable since I have a checkup at the dentist on Tuesday and I brush three times a day...especially when I'm at work. I usually get in two teeth brushings on the weekends... depending on how the day unfolds...maybe one if I'm lucky... but I'm into my routine.
Routine is helpful. I am quite certain I would have to be medicated if I didn't do things in a certain order. Take the laundry for instance. I had to do kid laundry...but I can't do the kid laundry until the beds are made so I can have a place to put the laundry and fold it and move it from bed to closet or bed to drawer. So, first the beds had to be made. And I can't walk from bed to closet or bed to drawer if the floor's covered in toys. So basically I created a monster when I made the kids clean their room (Thing 2 basically took blocks in and out of the block bag to help) just so I could do a couple of loads of laundry. Then, that took all night and then it was bath time and then it was bed time and no laundry was done. I'm not saying it makes sense. I'm saying that I couldn't even consider laundry if those things weren't done in that order. Now, tonight, I will go home...and start the process again. Except this time, there's no softball practice to make the night shorter. I know there will be laundry!
This is early season gibberish... All of this goes away when I find my swing of things... But usually the swing of things doesn't happen until softball is over! Opening Day is tomorrow and then, before we know it... it's over! I can't believe how fast it goes! Which is why I try and do my part and take as much pictures and video as my SD card holds!
I do have things to keep my brain busy, there are always craft projects. Which reminds me, I have a mother's day project to finish...and that shits coming up fast!! I like to keep atleast a few projects rolling at once because I might not be in a mood to crochet when I get home. I might want to make something out of homemade playdough... or I might want to embroider something... or one of my cross stitching projects...or work on Marysu's baby book... I don't always end up with the time to do these things, but when I have a moment to myself and feel the need, I have a plethora to keep my occupied... I still miss my Choni though...
But life's a trade off isn't it? Our cars are in great shape (one window doesn't roll down in the civic but hey it's 10 years old what did I expect?) We got a new fridge c/o SCE's low income energy assist program... we have fabulous neighbors. School's almost out! I might get to see more of Kid Sister this summer... The kids are incredibly great right now... Harley is doing well with school, she is doing all kinds of big girl, big sister, almost 8 year old things. And the thinks that she thinks are amazing. I love her amazing brain... Marysu... a guaranteed good time for everyone as long as she is fed. Great sleeper, two two hour naps a day is amazing! She's such a hammsammich and always laughs and smiles... Unless she's hungry... That kid...she's gonna eat us out of house and home! I'm just glad I have an eater on our hands! Harley is doing pretty well with her eating habits. Which reminds me, I need to go to the store tonight! haha! Pancake and Sausage breakfast for pre-Opening Day Festivities will be feeding us tomorrow, so that's a good thing! I don't have to worry about that atleast! Well, I'm going to wrap it up. My rice noodle soup has devoured all the water in the bowl and is ready for consumption. I also have an ice cold Dr. Pepper with my name on it!
No, literally, I had to write my name on it because these bastards will totally take it from me....

I Waited For The Other Shoe To Drop and It Hit The Wrong Person...
I have work to do , but it's oh so not going to happen right this second...way too much on my damn mind...
Ever since my first single parent summer night started, the kids have been good. I have tried to make a miniscule mark in the history of the housework. I made one here, one there... I try. I have made a dinner that was delicious and nutritious. I have gone out for food once. I think that's pretty good... all the dinner's in between are probably suspect... fine. Harley's homework gets done, kids get cleaned and rooms get cleaned... sometimes... but no real drama... but I was waiting.
I put forth a very ambitious night for myself last night. Usually, Choni gets the groceries with his stadium money and he keeps that money so it feeds us through the winter and by the time he starts at the stadium he is in need of more. And that's what works for us... Yay! Well, because of the whole increase in cost of living and he's been on the same wages since he started 6 seasons ago...our food budget gets a little tighter each year and now we have another mouth to feed... and I MEAN IT!!! The human garbage disposal is a medal I didn't think Choni would be sharing with a child...but he does and it's his child so I guess it's sense making... Moving on...
Well...
When your kid mentions how empty your fridge and freezer and cupboards are...it's time to think about things...so I thought about why that is and that we are due for a shopping trip on Saturday and then Daddy will probably be stocking up on things but then I thought about why we were shopping Saturday... cause Daddy didn't have his first paycheck and he didn't want to put gas in the van to go to gma's... so we would stay put and go grocery shopping... Hmmm... well I thought EFF IT!! I'm getting food! So I gave myself a budget, thought about the stuff that I could be making while Daddy is working...and I shopped. Poor Marysu though... She was stuck in her car seat all day...
See... in order for Daddy to get to work on time and not infringe on my day as he HATES to do and for us to not have to pay a sitter... he drives to my work (45 minutes) and THEN goes to work after dropping the kids off with me (15-20 minutes)... so, kids are in the car 45 minutes. Then they have a return trip with me for another 45 minutes... That's hard on kidlettes with NO concept of time.
I mulled over the Surprise Food Trip in my head all the way home. By the time we got home, I figured it was a go. Inside it was nice and warm, unlike the outside weather which was gray and storm-like ickiness... We warmed up inside, kids played a minute or two and then we were off. I cheated HUGE and the first and hopefully one of FEW times we ate out on Daddy's work schedule was McDonald's in the Wal-Mart. Talk about one-stop shopping. We ate, we shopped, we filled the cart. There were two diaper changes and trips to the bathroom, a spill of apple slices and two cups of juice before we left the store. By the time we got home it was time to get teeth brushed and pj's on and only a few minutes later it was bed time.
This is one of the times of my day I absolutely love. The kids don't always go to sleep right away...but listening to them sit there and chatter... It's priceless... Harley was so completely utterly meant to be a big sister...she has her moments because she's seven folks... but she is such a great helper and she LOVES her little sister so much...and Marysu just adores the big kid she shares her room with as I'm sure she pictures in her head must be her name... I folded laundry and put away dishes to chitter chatter that turned into slight whines and then gentle snores... took my shower, went to bed...the soda I had right before bed didn't agree with me, which was awesome cause it'll keep me from doing that EVER again (Welcome, Thirties!)...
Last night was awesome sauce... So why "The Other Shoe..."??
I have been sitting and waiting... apart of my brain has been 100% on alert to deal with "kid business" of ANY sort... spilled drinks, spilled ANYTHING, dirty ANYTHING, crazy cranky ANYTHING... and nothing... I'm fine, kids are fine, Choni is fine...
My coworker is NOT fine..her hubby is NOT fine. I feel like I'm on the other side of the desk from my MIL this time last year...or maybe even further back than that cause they're not there yet... but I feel like they're going there...and I don't want to go there again with ANYBODY right now. I want them to be fine... I have been waiting and anticipating the other shoe to drop on me...but it seems to have aimed poorly and hit my rad awesome coworker. I would be DEVASTATED if something happened to Antonio... no matter what no matter when...
My horribly cynical self was trying to save me from this...this right here... I felt the "What if I lost MY husband??" for two years...and Now I'm feeling it again...and all it does is prove that few things are scarier in life than losing the things that you LOVE so much that there really isn't a word worth the description of the feeling you have... LOVE is not enough... it's just not..but it's the closest I can get... there are people that you lose in your life and you go on...and life goes on..and that's fine...but there are some people, I know that if I lost them... My world would fall apart even for a moment... it would happen... I might comeback and bounce back and what comes out will be a version of me, but not he same me, because the same me would require that person to be around...and they're not... I can't imagine if I tried what she must be going through. I feel for her kids... I can do that... but I can't help her or be there for her FULLY because I don't know. I'll do what I can, I'll do her work. I can do THAT...at least... but just when we thought things were going to be great... they're not... and now my day has been funkified all day because I can't get them out of my head... These are damn good RADASS people... and I literally am sick for them... My heart literally hurts for them... Like, I-could-be-dying-of-heart-disease kind of hurts... Or I-probably-just-need-a-tums-because-I-had-coffee-this-morning hurts...but it started the second I heard...and some things you just can't un-hear... dammit...

25 and a Half Hour Countdown to Single Parent Summer....
Not that I'm counting down or anything... not all ....
I mentioned before about the Single Parent Summer and here we are again....
The season is well into swing and the first home game is tomorrow, which means the hubby goes back to his fab part time job tomorrow...and just as every year since he's done it, it's in the knick of time, too. Not that he doesn't LOVE being home with the kids, who doesn't?! Right?!?! Right!
I think that it's important for him to have "him" time, so I embrace the next less than five months. As long as it makes him happy.
Last season was not happy making due to employee changes WAY THE FUCK beyond his control... cause he's basically a glorified meat puppet...but a glorified meat puppet that gets to watch baseball all evening... So there's that...
I am already getting special requests of things to do from Thing 1... Fantastical... We are on a tight budget this year with our Seattle trip postponed to summer due to, well... we want to be there when there is a better chance of the sun being out. Wouldn't that be nice? We think so, too! When you have kids' schedules to work around, the possibilities for time off needs to be grabbed.. HARD!
I also just came to the realization that my foot hurts and it's not going away and then my tends-to-be-right and amazing Choni told me to change my shoes... well.... I didn't... no esta bueno... And I realized something else...
I haven't bought new shoes in 7 years... no wait... 7 and a half (don't forget the half!).
When Thing 1 was born it was stunning to me that I gained a shoe size! I had to shit-can SO many pairs of RAD shoes that I LOVED!!!!! And my Choni LOVED them, too... It was heart breaking to see all those shoes given away for donation since for some reason I don't tend to wear them out. All new shoes for my birthday and Christmas later and I still have them all....
I finally did it... I wore my 5 pairs of shoes so far down that my foot hurts. I mean "foot cancer" kind of worry hurts. Ma gave me a pair of her old trainers and by old I mean a pair of shoes she bought 5 years ago or so and NEVER EVER WORE...not once... maybe when she tried them on in the store before the purchase...but NEVER EVER EVER wore... I wore those yesterday and I felt like my feet were being massaged all day. The pain isn't GONE, but it's not as bad and I was able to go on my walk again today! Like I need another reason not to get exercise (rain, wind, cold) I haven't walked since my foot started hurting and what started it was a day where we walked ALL day. Since then, no bueno.... And I even wore a pair of shoes that I thought were the end all be all of my shoes. My foot hurt SO bad... and it's been off and on, but still a consistent pain... well, I think we got it now folks. New shoes! I bought a pair of Airwalks at PayLess...but I don't think that's what I need. I need REAL support... frikkin old lady I am now. I hate this. But hey, if I have to buy walking shoes for an orthopedic purpose, you bet your ass they're gonna rock!!! So I'm already putting my feelers out there for something ON SALE mind you. Good pair of trainers these days run in the high 10's ... not where my price range tends to settle. Plus I feel by going Clearance rack it requires me to go outside the box and get something more FUN :)
I have so many ideas of things that the childrens and I can do together while Daddy is working... I also have to feed them myself sans wrangler... hhhmmm.... that will be trickier than the tricks I've been doing, but I'm sure it won't take much time to get into the swing of things... Thing 1 is back to softball this year and I am excited for that. I know Daddy is too, especially since she promised she would be more into the practicing at home part. Last season, not so much... Of course, it wasn't required in her league, just encouraged. Now it will be more on the requirement side of the pie I'm sure. We'll see... I pretty much just like the Pancake Breakfast and the Opening Day Ceremony... It's so.....ceremonious :)
